How To Work With Mares In Heat….What’s Better Mare Or Gelding?

Rick Gore discusses some differences between Mares and Geldings, pros and cons and why some prefer one over the other. A lot comes down to personal preference and past experience. Bottom line is A horse is a horse and they can all have positive and negative traits and behaviors and all horses can good or bad, depending on who owns them..  He breaks it down into terms that are easy to relate to and understandable.  I know that my mare definitely doesn’t feel well when she’s in heat.  She eats a lot less and is actually way quieter which is surprising.  Instead of working her harder because she’s quieter, I  take it easy on her because I know she’s not feeling well.  What’s your favorite…mare or gelding?  Share this on Facebook if you love mares!

I think I prefer mares to geldings, I was fortunate to have a mare for 2 years, she was a dream. I have helped take care of geldings but the most unpleasant part of gelding care was sheath cleaning.. Not Fun..
