Western Pleasure Trainers Rewarded For Waiting To Show Horses Until 3 Year old Year

$80,800 in prize money was up for grabs at this years Hylton Maiden 3-Year-Old & Over Western Pleasure at the Virginia Classic. That money was divided up by this year’s 16 entries. The winner, Taft Dickerson, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, rode Extremely Hot Diva to a win in the the event. They took home a check for $30,200! This was Dickerson’s second win in a row. He won last year on a horse named Made By J. Watch the video from last year’s event below.

Cecilia Hylton, of Hylton Quarter Horses in Gainesville, Virginia has made this event possible for the past 6 years with her generous financial contribution.

The class was designed to be a maiden event for horses that are ages 3 and over. This was done in an effort to discourage trainers from pushing 2 year old horses too early. Hylton hopes that the large purse will encourage trainers to wait with their young horses.

The horses that placed in the top 10 at this year’s event were all between the ages of 3 and 4. For more information, including a full list of placings please visit our article source InStrideEdition. Share this on Facebook if you’d like to see more events like this!
