Horse Stuck In Louisiana Floods Infected With Strange “River Rot” – Watch Veterinarians Save Her
Jackie is a paint mare that is up at the Double Diamond Equine for treatment Clinic. She was caught in the Louisiana floods and was standing in water for far too long. She had just swollen legs at first and had trouble walking, when she was found. However, her legs began to get this “river-rot”. The skin became so inflamed that the skin literally began to rot and slough of of her.
The doctors believed that too much time in the dirty water caused this terrible rot and infection. The skin had to be removed because it was hanging of and rubbing abrasively on her legs. None of the skin is torn off, only the loos, floppy skin was removed. She is walking much better than she had been!
