Barrel racing. That exhilarating fast-paced competition that has been going on for years at rodeos throughout the world. You only need three barrels and a stopwatch. Sounds easy enough, right?
Although it may look easy, barrel racing requires exact technique and tremendous speed. Any good rider, professional barrel racer, or trainer knows that to win, you have to put in hours and hours of drills and slow work to be ready for competition.
A lot of people, even equestrians in other disciplines assume that barrel racing is simply running at barrels as fast as you can. They don’t understand the finesse and patience involved in training a GREAT barrel horse.
