500 Horses Set Free At San Luis Rey Training Facility Amid Fire
The Lilac Fire has swept through northern San Diego County and many residents had no time to prepare. At the San Luis Rey Training Facility barns and structures were under fire, some horses died, but other’s were able to be set free. Trainer Cliff Sise told CBS 8 “off-hand” that between 10 and 15 horses died and others were injured. His figures could not immediately be confirmed. The fire was so quick that they tried to let out as many horses as they could.
