Dear Naughty Horse – From A Beginner Rider
Dear Naughty Horse, You have quite the sense of humor! Am I doing something wrong? Is there some kind of inside joke that I’m not in on? When you buck me off it hurts! Still, I get right back on. Do you want to know why? Because I LOVE YOU! Yes, that’s right. You may be naughty sometimes, but I know it’s my fault. I wish I could be the perfect rider for you so you wouldn’t feel the need to tell me when I’m doing things wrong, but I’m not there yet. I don’t know if I’ll ever be perfect, but thankfully you are.
Thank you for loving me through all of my imperfections. Thank you for being patient with me while I figure out how to get my legs, seat, and hands to all connect and work as one. I’m sorry if sometimes I jerk the reins and hurt your mouth, or if I lose balance and hurt your back or kick you in the flank with my heel without even realizing it. I know that you don’t act naughty to be mean. You are actually pretty amazing. I know that you never did these things before I got you and you may have picked up a few bad habits because of me. I’m sorry to have let you down. But, I PROMISE to love you forever and try and ride better and better every single day…for you. Thank you for being patient with me my sweet, wonderful, PERFECT horse. I love you!
Teaching a beginner to ride isn’t easy. I am so thankful for all of the school horses and beginner horses out there. They are all amazing and deserve all the love in the world. Share this on Facebook if you agree!
